Staff are stepping out in style to save one of the world’s rarest big cats.
And we’re hoping to spread a little animal magic by urging folk to join our Onesie Walk on Saturday, May 3 to raise funds for Sumatran tigers in the wild. Head of Media and Communications, Jill Hitchman, said: “This is going to be a huge event for DZG; we want everyone to wear an animal-themed onesie and join our sponsored walk to help us fundraise for a very special species.” The event, around our 40-acre site, is open to all ages and offers participants a chance to see their favourite exotic animals as they join the zoo route for a 2km Onesie Waddle, 5km Onesie Wander or 10km Onesie Walk. Jill added: “Funds raised will be split between DZG’s conservation projects and 21st Century Tiger, a charity which supports tigers in the wild. “At DZG we have a pair of Sumatrans, which are among the rarest sub-species of tiger on the planet, but with fewer than 400 now existing in the wild, it is absolutely vital we do all we can to ensure these magnificent creatures survive. “We’re aiming to raise awareness of 21st Century Tiger’s work with a fun event that brings in funds and secures a future for these highly-endangered creatures.”
