A Sedgley man had a retirement present to remember when his family treated him to a DZG Zoo Keeper experience.
Animal mad John Peplow worked alongside keepers in a hands-on day with some of the world’s rarest animals.
John, aged 65, said: “My family knew this would be the ideal present for me as I’m a real softie with all animals.”
John began his day working with primates before feeding fish to the sealions and penguins and browse to the giraffes as well as getting the opportunity to fly birds of prey in the courtyard of historic Dudley Castle.
However John’s favourite moment was coming face-to-face with Amur tiger, Tschuna and Sumatran tiger, Daseep.
“To get that close to such beautiful creatures was just awe-inspiring. The whole day was fantastic and I came away with some great memories.”
He added: “All the keepers were so knowledgeable and knew the answers to every question I asked. I would thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone.”
