It’s been another busy year at DZG and before the chimes herald 2015 I want to say a HUGE thanks to everyone who has contributed to our web news, retweeted our daily stories and been a dedicated follower on Facebook.
Throughout the past 365 days we’ve covered tales of creatures great and small, followed the progress of site developments and offered you a glimpse of life at your favourite zoo.
We’re very proud that we are the only zoo in the world to bring you daily news this year we’ve produced more than 1,000 stories, all supported by Facebook and Twitter feeds and work hard to ensure it’s interesting, informative, accurate and, hopefully, makes you smile.
We’ve produced four copies of our 28-page ZooNooz magazine, an Annual Review, a corporate Christmas card and Santa Wrap, plus our calendar.
And designed and written 400 information signs, covering every creature within the collection, that have been rolled out across the 40-acre site, alongside updating our website with corresponding branding and data.
There’s no such thing as a regular day at Dudley Zoological Gardens, but it’s fun and fascinating and Team DZG is a hard act to beat. Visitor numbers are up, Facebook likes are soaring, the collection’s been boosted by some of the world’s rarest animals, we’ve had several ‘first’ births with new species and there are exciting conservation plans ahead. And the icing on the development cake has been the restoration of four Modernist Tecton structures Entrance, Safari Shop, plus the Bear Ravine and Kiosk One.
The future’s looking bright and we hope you’ll share our journey.
Heartfelt thanks for your continued support and best wishes for a very happy and healthy 2015. JILL HITCHMAN Head of Media and Communications
