Jazz in the Ballroom

As part of the 27th Birmingham International Jazz and Blues Festival, UK sensations Tipitina performed R&B favourites in the iconic Queen Mary Ballroom.

Vocalist Debbie Jones and Justin Randall on piano offered guests a heady mix of New Orleans good-time blues, barrelhouse and gospel sprinkled with rhythm and blues.

Festival organiser Jim Simpson said: “Jazz nights were a regular feature at the Queen Mary Ballroom back in the 60s and Tipitina felt right at home continuing that tradition.”

DZG CEO Peter Suddock said: “We had a fantastic crowd who really enjoyed the music and we are hoping to make jazz in the ballroom a regular event.”   CAPTION: All that Jazz: Tipitina at DZG.
