We’re counting down to DZG’s double jazz date . . .
As part of the 29th Birmingham International Jazz and Blues Festival DZG ?is hosting an evening with Ricky Cool and The Hoola Boola Boys on Friday, July 12 and on Saturday, July 13 The Jiveoholics will be bringing their distinctive sounds to the Queen Mary Suite.
One of the hottest frontmen in the business, Ricky and his unstoppable Hoola Boola Boys have toured with such greats as the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis.
They regularly play with Led-Zep legend Robert Plant, West Mids boogie-woogie giant Mike Sanchez, and supported Little Richard on his last UK tour.
Welsh jump-jive wizards, The Jiveoholics, are a six-piece late 1940’s / early 1950’s-style band who formed in 2006 and since then have performed at more than 300 venues across the UK and Europe. Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival Organiser, Jim Simpson, said: “Ricky Cool never fails to give a top class act worthy of any international venue and The Jiveoholics, fronted by the fabulous Kitty L’Etoile, are guaranteed to make you move your feet when they give favourite pieces a little twist of pizazz.”
Head of Media and Communications, Jill Hitchman, said:?”This is the fourth year DZG?has been part of the festival and we are really excited about welcoming one of the UK’s top acts to the Queen Mary Suite.

The events will take place on Friday, July 12 (Ricky Cool) and Saturday, July 13 (Jiveoholics) starting at 7.30pm in the Queen Mary Suite.
JOIN THE JITTERBUG KIDS MATINEE
Fancy a dance, kids? Why not join The Jitterbug Kids Matinee, a free dance workshop designed for kids, on Saturday, July 6 at StarCity, in Birmingham.
The two hour session, by The Chinese Jitterbug Squad, will begin at 2pm and will be followed up by a second free dance class by Strictly Jitterbug, specifically tailored to adults, at 5pm.
