It’s grrr-eat to be eight!

Our striking Sumatran tigress Daseep turns eight today and will have visitors queueing up to wish her a roarsome day.

The popular girl, who’s ranked as the second most important female in the genetic species pool, will be lapping up her favourite Marmite treat – which she knows she’ll have all to herself, as male Joao is not a fan.

Senior Big Cat Keeper, Sarah Evans, said: “Daseep is a real favourite at Dudley and we’ve received several birthday cards for her. She gets visitors from far and wide, including Germany where she was born and lived before she came here six and a half years ago.”

Last month husband and wife Peter Kronenberger and Katni Heider, from near Frankfurt Zoo where Daseep was born, brought Marmite supplies and a Frankfurt Zoo postcard of Daseep as a baby.

The kind couple are among Daseep’s many adopters and fans who will be thinking of our gorgeous girl on her special day, even if they’re not able to be here in person.

Thanks to DZG visitor Steve Barton for the fabulous pic of the birthday girl!
