Introducing Mwamba . . .

Meet Mwamba, our handsome new male Asiatic lion.

The nine year-old has relocated from Paignton Zoo and joins females Kyra and Asha in their Tecton paddock.

DZG Curator, Matt Lewis, said: “Mwamba has settled into his new home very quickly and seems to be quite a laid back lion.

“We kept him outside in the paddock on his own for the first few days, while the girls were kept inside, so he could adjust to his new surroundings in his own time, before we introduced them all slowly.”

Keepers are hopeful that Mwamba, who fathered a litter of cubs on the English Riviera, will make an impression on our two females – watch this space . . .and watch him here!
