DZG Keeper Adam Davey appeals for houseplants

Keepers are on the lookout for all kinds of potted greenery that can be used in the Reptile House and other indoor enclosures.

Section Leader Jay Haywood, said: “We’re looking for unwanted houseplants of all shapes and sizes to brighten up some of our animal enclosures.

“Whether they’ve grown too big, or you fancy a clear out, then please think of us and we’ll sort them and distribute them accordingly around the site.”

Donations can be dropped off at the main zoo entrance inside the Safari Gift Shop where our Customer Services Team will happily take them off your hands.

We’re also still on the hunt for bamboo roots to increase our supply of the tasty treat for many of our species on site, including our red panda, giraffes and chimpanzees.

Like before, bamboo must be potted with roots so that it can be planted across the zoo site and it too can be dropped off in the shop.

Unfortunately, DZG staff will not be able to collect plants or bamboo from homes.
