Worcestershire youngsters got up close to Crumpet the chinchilla and learned how the critically endangered creatures adapt to the cold.
The pupils, from Oasis Academy in Warndon, took part in an Iceworld Explorer workshop in our Discovery Centre.
The five and six-year-olds were taught how animals from Antarctica and the Arctic coped with the chilly environments.
Presenter Dorrie Hall, pictured right leading the workshop, said the Year 1 children enjoyed meeting Crumpet, a female chinchilla.
She said: “The children really loved stroking Crumpet’s soft fur and learning how it’s that thick coat which helps the species adapt to cold places.”
