Hole lot of fun for chimps!

Our seven chimpanzees are using bamboo stalks to make sure they get every last drop of their favourite treat.

Primate keepers have devised a special feeding platform for the female chimps from a wooden log into which they drilled holes.

Lower primate section leader, Nicola Wright, said: “We spread treats like honey, jam or yoghurt over the log, making sure it goes into all the holes.

“The girls then have to work out how to get the food out of the holes. We’ve seen them use the stalks from their bamboo leaves as tools to scrape out every last drop. They never leave anything behind.”

The chimps can’t get enough of their tasty treats!
