Heritage Open Evenings

Join us for a late afternoon on either Thursday 17th or Friday 18th September 2026, in the grounds of Dudley Castle where we’re taking part in the annual Heritage Open Days.
Access to the 11th Century Castle in the heart of Dudley Zoo. This venue will open it’s doors for free from 1700-1900 (last admission is 1800) for those interested in the history of the Castle.
Access will include the Castle Courtyard, Castle Keep, Undercroft and Castle Visitor Centre (Castle Creatures).
No Guided Tours will be included, however our staff will be happy to answer any questions you have on the history of the Castle.
The Zoo WILL BE CLOSED and no access to the Zoo will be permitted.
Please note the Zoo car park is not open for this event. Parking is not available in either the Castle grounds or on The Fellows pub car park. Please do NOT park on The Fellows pub as they have ANPR cameras in place and you will get fined!
Please park on Dudley College’s car park (situated off the The Broadway, DY1 4AS) which will be open from 5 pm.
Turn on to the car park, go past the security hut, and follow the road round with the college building on your left hand side.
Turn right at the junction and you will see parking spaces with our entrance directly in front of you. The entrance will be open at 5pm.
There is no charge for car parking. The college car park is an approximate 10 minute walk away from the courtyard.
There are other car parks available in the area, however these are NOT operated by DZC and we cannot be held responsible for availability or charges.
Visit must be pre-booked in advance. We will not accept anyone on the day who has not pre-booked.
Due to the hilly nature of the site, the Castle tower/keep is not accessible for those with mobility difficulties.
Tickets are non-exchangeable and have no cash value.
THERE IS NO ACCESS TO THE ZOO, THE ZOO WILL BE CLOSED.
Admission to the Castle Courtyard is free to visit on these dates, however you DO need to pre-register!
