A female pygmy marmoset has arrived at DZC to form a new breeding group.
Four-year-old Chewie arrived from Banham Zoo and has been paired with five-year-old male, Kingston, from our previous bachelor group.
We currently only have the two pygmy marmosets after the remaining males from our last breeding group relocated to another UK collection.
Upper Primates Section Leader, Pat Stevens, said: “Chewie and Kingston have already settled in well together and we’re hoping we can replicate the success we’ve had with previous breeding pairs as we look to build up a new group.”
You can find our pygmy marmosets, who are the world’s smallest primate species, in the Small Primate House.
