Hedgehog project underway

Thank You to everyone who donated to our Hedgehog Havens – Urban Hedgehogs in Churchyards project via the Big Give fundraiser earlier this year.

Your generosity meant we raised over £6,000 and we’re delighted our project, in association with Hartpury University in Gloucestershire, is now underway.

Working alongside local churches, we’ve started to install wildlife camera traps in churchyards across the Black Country, in the hope of discovering how hedgehogs and other native wildlife are using these important green spaces within our urban landscape.

The collected footage will help inform future hedgehog conservation work and wildlife-friendly churchyard management.

We look forward to sharing some of the discoveries as the project progresses!

If you have any links to a Black Country church with a churchyard, who may be able to help our project, please contact DZC Conservation and Development Coordinator, Jack Williams, by emailing jack.williams@dudleyzoo.org.uk
