Hazel’s chairlift debut – at 86!
You’re never too old to travel in style, as Stourbridge pensioner Hazel Dunn proved at the age of 86!
A zoo visitor dating back to the 1940’s Hazel has always enjoyed the animals, castle views and land train trips, but never fancied taking the chairlift until this week!
She said: “It was a really hot day and I looked at the chairlift and thought, that looks so inviting I’ll give it a try.
“And I enjoyed it so much I travelled back down at the end of the afternoon!”
She added: “I never really fancied it before as I’m not too good with heights, but it was nothing how I’d imagined and I loved floating gently through the air in a welcome breeze.”
The only vintage chairlift in the country, the 1958 craft was re-launched last summer following a £117,000 Heritage Lottery funded restoration programme.
