Twenty tiny creepy critters have hatched in the Discovery Centre just in time for Hallowe’en.
The baby giant lime green stick insects will take at least six months until they’re fully-grown, with females reaching up to 16cm in length.
Presenter Langan Turner said the youngsters, will soon go on show to the public.
He said: “At the moment they’re very small and need to reside in a high humid environment.
“We’ve got them in with two older Indian stick insects as babies find it easier to feed on leaves that have already been nibbled on, so they’re able to eat the leaves the adults have already tried.”
A species native to the Caribbean, their favourite food is Eucalyptus leaves.
