Ghostly goings on!
Whether you’re a believer or a sceptic, there’s no escaping the fact Dudley Castle is regarded as one of the most haunted castles in the country.
Well-known for its history of conflicts and deaths since its construction in the 11th century, there are thought to be plenty of paranormal presences lingering within its grounds and sightings and unexplained activities have been reported here for hundreds of years!
Many a staff member working in and around the castle at all times of the day have experienced extreme drops in temperature, heard footsteps, seen shadows and even a little girl by the castle’s ramp when it’s closed to the public, while alarms have gone off in the middle of the night without reason.
Our daily Presenter-led History and Ghost Talk gives visitors a brief overview of the goings on, but you can find out more about some of the spooky stories on BBC Sounds, after we recently took part in short series entitled ‘Hidden Black Country’ with BBC Radio WM Presenter Daz Hale, who came on site to speak to our castle guide, Amy Hickman.
