Ghost, a handsome new reindeer, has arrived at Dudley Zoo – just in time for Santa’s busy night!
The three-year-old male, pictured left, came to DZG from the Scottish Deer Centre in Cupar, Fife.
The new arrival, who is called Ghost because of his white coat, has been brought in as part of a breeding programme.
Section Leader Jay Haywood said: “Ghost is a great addition to our herd and is very tall and handsome.
“All the females went over to meet him when he arrived and he has settled well into the mixed paddock.”
Some of our other reindeer including Maggie, shown right – have done a sterling job greeting visitors to Santa’s grotto throughout December.
Keepers have walked two or three of the herd up to the Castle courtyard each morning to a specially-built enclosure where they have welcomed thousands of youngsters visiting Santa.
Marketing Manager Andrea Hales said: “The grotto will be extremely busy today as young visitors come to see Santa with their Christmas Eve wish lists.
“We’ve loved having so many excited families on site every day this month. They’ve been able to combine seeing Santa and many of our amazing animals in one trip.”
Tonight’s the night Hope you’ve been good all year!
