Getting stuck into breakfast

DZG’s seven chimpanzees tucked right in when Lower Primates Keepers concealed their breakfast around their one-acre paddock.

Bottles of bran were hidden in the outdoor enclosure as well as tubs containing diluted sugar-free squash, sunflower seeds, cod liver oil and water.

And the secreted snacks were well received by the seven girls, especially Barbie and Malaika who loved the bran and Mandy who enjoyed the floating sunflower seeds.

Lower Primates Section Leader Nicola Wright said: “The morning feed is our best chance to make the girls’ mealtimes more interesting.

“They sleep indoors so we can hide their breakfast in the long grass or around the climbing frame before they come outside and then watch to see them explore.”
