Fun with sun beetles
During Love Your Zoo Week we’re highlighting a lesser-known member of our collection the sun beetle (Pachnoda marginata peregrina).
These brightly-coloured medium-sized beetles live in in west and central Africa and are commonly found on acacia trees. They feed on ripe fruit, such as bananas, and fly surprisingly well.
They are very easy to care for in captivity and will breed readily which makes them excellent pets!
