It’s the start of January and we’re launching our free return offer and who better to do the honours than DZG’s most frequent visitor!
Keen amateur photographer, Kathryn Willett, cut the ribbon for our first visitors of 2016, who along with every full paying person who visits during January and February will receive a free return trip to the award-winning attraction.
DZG Curator Richard Brown, pictured right with Kathryn, said: “The zoo changes so much during each season that we wanted to encourage visitors to come and see it for themselves.
“During the winter months it’s much quieter on site, the trees are bare and those animals who are native to colder climates are more active; whereas during the height of summer the zoo is bustling, the gardens and blooming and different animals are enjoying the warmer weather.”
The return ticket will be valid until the end of July and an original receipt from the January / February visit will need to be produced.
But every season at DZG can produce stunning photo opportunities, as zoo member, Kathryn Willett well and truly knows!
Kathryn, from Dudley, comes on site with her camera numerous times a week, visiting whatever the weather, all year round and has captured some amazing pictures of the animals and zoological gardens.
Kathryn said: “Winter is definitely my favourite time of year at the zoo and if you’re very lucky you can get some great snowy, frosty and foggy pictures, such as the one I managed of Daseep that’s in this year’s zoo calendar.
“It’s wonderful to wander round the site when it’s peaceful, but it’s also great in the spring and summer as animals are out enjoying the sun and it’s always lovely to picnic outdoors in the gardens.
“I’d definitely recommend taking up the offer and visiting the zoo in all seasons, as you never know what you’ll see.”
