Flying high!

We’re flying high after achieving the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS) award.

The marque is given annually by Visit England following a secret visit by an inspector, who in a report commended the appearance of the zoo and castle grounds, the “amazing number and variety of species” and the “infectious” knowledge and passion of our staff – with special mention given to our Bird Keeper, Kriss Pearson, who was praised for his “first class” bird of prey presentation.

Zoo Manager Matt Lewis, said: “The inspection provides an unbiased view of our visitor experience at DZG by the tourism regulatory body and it was wonderful to read how complimentary the report was about so many elements, especially our knowledgeable staff, our varied daily animal talk and feed programme and our informative signage around the 40-acre site.”
