Flights cancelled
All flights from Dudley Castle courtyard were cancelled after DZG’s birds of prey refused to take off in freezing conditions!
Team Leader Birds Section, Kellie Piper, said: “We tried to fly the birds as usual in the castle courtyard, but they were too scared of the snow.
“Common buzzard, Leah, wasn’t having any of it and completely refused to do anything and we were worried about Kaiser, our African spotted eagle owl, landing in the snow and getting frostbite.
“We decided to cancel all our outdoor shows, but carried on in the Go Wild! Theatre, so all our birds still got their daily exercise.”
Grounded: DZG’s African spotted eagle owl, Kaiser, who refuses to fly in cold weather.
