Flamingos flock outside!

What a wonderful sight!

Our flamingos couldn’t wait to get back into their outdoor habitat – and it’s all thanks to the generosity of our visitors in making it happen!

Our flock of Chilean and American flamingos and red breasted geese have been indoors for the past couple of months after heavy snowfall and wind at the start of the year caused significant damage to Flamingo Falls.

Birds Section Leader, Kriss Pearson, said: “We’re very grateful for all the support we received on our Justgiving page following Storm Goretti, which has enabled us to carry out initial repairs to the netting and supporting structures to allow the birds outdoor access during the day.

“Work will be continuing on the habitat over the coming weeks as we futureproof it against further inclement weather, but it’s great to see the flamingos outside once again and enjoying the spring sunshine.”
