Fancy jumping aboard the Zoo Crew and joining us as our newest land train driver?
We’re looking to recruit a permanent driver for our popular diesel locomotive, which transports passengers from the zoo entrance to the heart of the 40-acre site in minutes, passing some of the world’s rarest animals on the hilly route along the way!
Applicants must have a full clean driving licence and at least three years driving experience. Relevant train driving training will be given and candidates must be available to work weekends, weekdays and bank holidays as required.
Zoo Manager, Matt Lewis, said: “We’ve had a land train on site for more than 30 years and it’s been a welcome relief to thousands of visitors, especially families with buggies and young children and the train and driver become quite a photo opportunity!”
“Due to covid restrictions we’ve been unable to run the service for a long while, but with the forthcoming easing of restrictions we’re hoping it won’t be too much longer.”
The red and white locomotive formally transported holiday makers across the seafront in Alicante, before it was relocated to sunny Dudley in 2017.
