Family flock to see keeper Evie

Nine-year-old Evie Duke’s grandparents travelled from Nottinghamshire to see her become a DZG Little Zoo Keeper for the Day.

The Halesowen youngster – who was given the experience as a birthday gift – was watched by her grandparents, parents, brother and sister as she fed Humboldt penguins and tickled Brazilian tapirs.

Her dad, Martin Duke, said: “Evie had a great time and loves animals. She’d like to work with animals eventually, so this was a wonderful experience for her.”

He said her favourite part was feeding the penguins and it was great all the family could be together to share the day.

Evie was joined by her parents, Martin and Michelle, her 12-year-old brother Tomas, her three-year-old sister Rebecca and grandparents Mick and Steph Gore.
