Face your spider fear!

Are you scared of spiders and want to overcome your fear? Then let DZG help you!

We’re hosting our popular Arachnophobia Workshop on March 12 at 3pm and places are filling up fast.

Run in the Rainforest Room in the Discovery Centre, the session is relaxed and informal and after hosting them for over a decade, we’ve had huge success!

DZG Presenter, Langan Turner, said: “We discuss why arachnophobia is the most common animal-related fear, aiming to give them a better understanding of the eight-legged creatures.

“And many participants feel confident enough to touch a tarantula by the end of the session.”

Still not convinced? Then read some of the testaments from previous participants…

Anne McClean, from London, travelled to DZG specifically to take part in the workshop.

She said: ” I found it really useful and it taught me a lot of things that I didn’t know about spiders.

“The session was put to the test as soon as I got home, after I discovered a spider in my bathroom and bedroom, but whereas I would usually get someone to remove them, I just let them stay put.”

Lizzie Lowrey came from Kent, she said: “I was so nervous taking part, but by the end of it I actually held the biggest tarantula, Matty, and I was really proud of myself. I definitely think I’ll be able to cope if I encounter a spider on my own.”
