The Easter bunny delivered an egg-stra special breakfast to our Asiatic short-clawed otters this morning.
Along with their regular sprats, the otters were treated to hardboiled eggs and by using go-pro-cameras, keepers have captured underwater footage of the otters enjoying their Easter delights!
Assistant Curator, Jay Haywood, said: “We boil the eggs and give them to the otters whole, with the shell on, so not only do they have to work out how to get inside themselves which is great enrichment, it gives them a tasty treat which is full of protein.
“We threw the eggs into the pool and waited for the otters to get them and as the footage shows, it didn’t take them long to find the eggs, peel the shell off and tuck in!”
