🖐️Touch & Feel
A tactile session for younger children based in our Discovery Centre. Explore a range of animal groups by getting hands-on with a range of furs, feathers and scales. Please note this session does not include live animals.
This session lasts approximately 30 minutes and takes place in the Discovery Centre.
Cost: £50 for one Touch & Feel session for up to 30 children.
🪶The Mystery Feather
Join us for story time at the zoo, where we will be reading our very own animal based book. This workshop will provide early years learners with the opportunity to get hands-on with a variety of bird feathers – discussing their shape, colour and size.
This session lasts approximately 30 minutes and takes place in the Discovery Centre.
Cost: £50 for one Mystery Feather session for up to 30 children.
🐛The Big Bug Hunt
Find out about amazing world of minibeasts. This session will introduce early year’s learners to the amazing world of bugs through an interactive outdoor bug hunt. Count the number of legs, horns and spots on different bugs – encouraging learners to apply basic numbers to a real world setting.
This session lasts approximate 30 minutes and involves some outdoor/touring elements (weather permitting).
Cost: £50 for one Big Bug Hunt session for up to 30 children.
🚶🏼➡️Zoo Tour
Learners will be led on a pre-planned tour around the zoo, stopping at various enclosures and learning facts about our animals here at the zoo. This tour can be tailored to your individual needs, so we encourage you to speak to our team and we will try to accommodate where possible.
This session lasts approximately 40 – 50 minutes and takes place outdoors.
Cost: £80 for one guided Zoo Tour for up to 30 children.

Workshops are suitable for children aged 3-5 years only. Children aged 0-2 years are not permitted to take part in any workshops.
The above quoted costs are for one session or guided zoo tour for up to 30 children. This cost will be in addition to the admission ticket price (£9.00) that each child will pay.
EYFS groups receive one free adult with three paying students, with any additional adults being charged at £10.00 per person. (EYFS groups receive one free adult with every 3 paying students/ SEN groups receive a free carer admission per child). These rates are based upon groups of 10+ students and 10 is the minimum number of students required to run an educational session.
We can accommodate a maximum of 30 children per workshop and for the indoor lunch sittings we can provide if requested (as these rooms can accommodate up to 30 children at a time).
Here at Dudley Zoo & Castle we aim to educate children of all ages about the natural world, conservation and history through the use of natural artefacts including skins, skulls and scales. We therefore no longer include animals in our classroom sessions. This is to help ensure that both our learners and our animal’s needs are met. Dudley Zoo & Castle is home to over 150 species which you and your students will have the opportunity to see if you book a session including a touring element or whilst exploring our 40 acre site during your visit.
