DZG remembers

DZG staff will be observing two minutes silence today for Remembrance Sunday.

Zoo Director Derek Grove will be representing DZG at Dudley’s annual civic service and laying a poppy wreath at the town’s cenotaph, while staff on site will be joining the national remembrance across the 40-acre site at 11am.

Derek said: “We encourage staff to wear poppies on their uniform out of respect for our servicemen and women and we particularly remember those members of staff who were called up to join the war effort in 1939, just two years after Dudley Zoo had opened to the public.”
