DZG joins record meet

Registrar and Research Co-ordinator, Dr David Beeston, joined record keepers from animal collections across the country at their annual BIAZA (British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums) meeting.

The two-day event at Hawk Conservancy Trust in Hampshire included workshops and discussions about the web-based ZIMS (Zoological Information Management System) – a comprehensive animal care log that can be shared with keepers across the world.

Dr Beeston, said: “The conference was excellent and included talks about a new veterinary section of ZIMS which was really interesting.”

The following day, Dr Beeston, in his other role as Regional DMZAA (Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals) Co-ordinator was guest speaker at Sparsholt College in Hampshire, where he gave a presentation to the DMZAA course’s first year students about the legality of keeping good records.
