Discovery Centre

Due to Covid-19 we have temporarily suspended our Educational Workshop Programme and are therefore unable to offer school & group visits to the Zoo & Castle that include a workshop. We hope to be able to re-introduce our workshop programme as soon as it safe to do so.

Please contact for information on self-guided visits.

The workshops detailed in the following pages are from our 2019/20 programme and are for reference only.  UPDATED 02/04/21.

Education sessions for all age groups take place in the Discovery Centre which offers a Rainforest Suite classroom and conference suite, plus our 70-seater Go Wild! Theatre.

Situated at the heart of the zoo, between our Patagonian sealions and Humboldt penguins, the Discovery Centre, a listed Tecton building, is also home to a variety of small animals which are used in teaching sessions.

Exhibition areas tell visitors about our worldwide conservation projects plus facts about some of the 1300 animals we have within the collection.
