Dendi the adventurer!

Climbing a wooden log can seem a mountainous task when you’re a five-week-old gelada baboon.

But our littlest adventurer, Dendi, was determined to reach the top!

Lower Primates Senior Keeper, Jade Reddall, said: “Dendi is getting more and more inquisitive and adventurous by the day and is now beginning to develop his climbing skills.

“It’s important babies practice climbing to maintain the development of their bones and muscles while they’re growing.

“They do this by playing and exploring objects, but always make sure they stick close to mum.”

The youngster, who was born to mum, Addis and dad, Ebano, on December 21 has been named Dendi by keepers, after Mount Dendi, the second highest volcano in Ethiopia, the native home of the species.
