Keepers on Christmas Day duty have stacks of fun with our animals as they deliver piles of festive food parcels around the site.
Staff across all sections spent Christmas Eve gift wrapping boxes full of food, ready for the 1,600-strong animal collection to open today.
Senior Keepers Sam Grove and Jodie Dryden were two of the dozen keepers on the special delivery round and said it was a very enjoyable time.
Sam said: “It can take us ages to wrap up parcels containing food for the animals and just a few seconds for them to be opened. And very often the animals are just as interested in the boxes as what’s inside.
“But the day also gives us chance to have some special quiet time alone with the animals, as it’s the only day of the year we close to visitors.”
