John and Joyce Reed, from Shropshire, are dedicated supporters of DZG after becoming Keepers for a Day.
Sixty six year old John was most impressed with the unusual gift from his wife and spent the action-packed day shadowing keeping staff.
He said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the day, it was an excellent present and we enjoyed it so much we decided to do a Double Keeper experience.
“We particularly enjoyed feeding Rothschild giraffe Kubwa and I have now adopted him. Joyce has adopted Brazilian tapir Ronnie, and a black and white lemur.”
He added: “The staff were extremely helpful and well informed on all of the zoo’s animals we’ll be back as Joyce has already asked for another Keeper for the Day experience for Christmas!”
John and 67-year-old Joyce who attended our recent Adopters’ Day have also kindly donated £225 to DZG to be spent on animal enrichment across the sections.
