Curators go fishing

DZG’s Curators put their fishing skills to the test when collecting our latest additions to Monkey Tails.

Curator Matt Lewis and Assistant Curator Richard Brown – pictured above – netted 35 fish from a zoo supporter’s garden pond, to add to the new pool in the walkthrough experience.

Matt said: “The lady was moving house and was unable to take the fish with her and offered them to us.

“As we are recently restoring a large pond in Monkey Tails we were delighted to take her up on her kind offer and collected a mixture of koi carp, fantail goldfish and shubunkins, to add to our current collection of ornamental fish.”

Seven of the smaller fish have also been added to the tank in the farm barn for younger visitors to spot.
