Cousin fun at DZG!

Two cousins from Barnsley became zoo keepers for the day after being surprised with the experience for their birthdays.

Isobelle Sowerby, aged ten and nine year-old James Wilkinson were treated to the unique gift by their parents and both had a fantastic day tickling tapirs, feeding Humboldt penguins and clearing up after the site’s farm animals.

Louise Soweby, Isobelle’s mum, said: “In their words the day was absolutely awesome and they keep asking when can we go again.

“Isobelle’s favourite part of the day was feeding the penguins, she couldn’t believe that they came so close and James’ favourite was the meerkats, he just thinks they are cheeky and cute.”

Little Zoo Keepers experiences are suitable for animal mad youngsters aged between eight to 13 year-olds.

From £75 children get the chance to go behind the scenes to see how our zoo works, as well as meeting, feeding and mucking out some of the animals.

Louise added: “I would certainly buy another experience day with Dudley Zoo as it was extremely good value for money what with having a photo taken and receiving a bag with goodies inside.  It’s a must have experience for any child.”
