Work at the Zoo


Dudley Zoo & Castle are looking to recruit a part time health and safety administrator with NEBOSH accreditation to manage and promote good working practice across the organisation and ensure we are compliant with all relevant HSE legislation.

The position requires an enthusiastic person with a proactive approach who has experience in a similar role and is comfortable and confident working within a team, but who can also manage their workload independently.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Compiling, maintaining and updating risk assessments and health and safety policies
  • Maintain all health and safety records such as Legionella and asbestos reports
  • Carrying out site audits
  • Chairing internal health and safety meetings
  • Monitoring hot work and electrical permits as required

This is a part time position of 2, possibly 3 days per week and ideally suited to someone looking to reduce their current working hours.  A flexible work pattern may be available if required.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

 This is an opportunity to work in a friendly & professional zoo environment for a 12 month period. The successful candidate will work alongside our experienced zoo keepers and help them carry out their daily duties caring for the animals across our 42 acre site. Tasks briefly comprise of feeding, cleaning and general maintenance and care of exhibits.

The role is a full time position for a period of 12 months, and will include a level 2 Diploma in work based animal care.  Hours of work will be based on a five day working week including weekends and Bank Holidays.
