As a registered charity, dedicated to conservation and education, we support a variety of projects across the globe.

Some of these projects are based here at Dudley Zoo & Castle and focus on wildlife found close to home. This includes our ‘Black Country Bat Conservation Plan’ and our work protecting native pond life, which we support by providing staff expertise, equipment and facilities within the zoo. We also provide financial support to a range of overseas projects, including the Sintang Orangutan Centre and Painted Dog Conservation, who work in the range countries of endangered target species.

Alongside these projects, we participate in over 60 European Breeding Programmes (EEP’s) – which help to create sustainable populations of threatened species within European zoos.

We provide expertise and support to the wider zoo community by participating in various working groups and committees and are proud to coordinate the Black lemur (Eulemur macaco) EEP.

Thanks to our visitors, supporters and members, we are able to conserve wildlife across the globe.

Alongside our key projects, we also support…

B.R.I.D.G.E.S: A research project in Ethiopa focused on Gelada (Theropithecus gelada). The project aims to gain a better understanding of gelada behaviour by comparing wild individuals to those cared for in European zoos. Our annual donation helps fund this vital work.

Cikananaga Conservation Breeding Centre (CCBC): A breeding centre in Indonesia dedicated to endangered and critically endangered wildlife. Our annual donation helps fund the day-to-day operations at this conservation facility.

Kanahau Utila Research and Conservation Facility: A research facility based in Utila which aims to inform and implement a conservation action plan for the Utila spiny-tailed iguana.

Red Panda Network: An organisation committed to the conservation of wild red panda (Ailurus fulgens) and their habitat. Our annual donation funds a conservation ranger’s salary in Nepal, helping support remaining populations of wild red panda.

Snow Leopard Trust: An organisation dedicated to understanding and protecting the snow leopard (Panthera uncia). We provide an annual financial contribution.

Sphenisco: An organisation helping to preserve Humboldt penguins (Spheniscus humboldti) off the coast of Peru and Chile. We provide an annual financial contribution.

Wild Camel Protection Foundation: The only organisation dedicated solely to the conservation of the wild Bactrian camel (Camelus ferus). We sponsor two wild camels each year; Noddy and Dudley.
