Ungulates keepers have been clearing fallen leaves around the section’s enclosures to encourage grass growth next spring.
Section Leader Jay Haywood and keepers Adam Wrench and Neil Flockhart have collected piles of leaves from the mara enclosure and cleared up other parts of the section, too.
Jay said: “Picking up the leaves is an important job at this time of year.
“Not only does it keep the enclosures looking better but taking away the blanket of leaves will allow the grass to grow back in the spring. If we didn’t do this the only growth which would make it through the leaves would be weeds.”
