Chillie’s an inspiration!

Chillie, the Chilean Rose Tarantula checks out a new award-winning children’s book, inspired by DZC’s spiders!

Cobweb Capers, has recently won the Young Winner category in the Turtle Sea Books Spring 2021 Contest and we’re grateful to author, Dr Jane McGee, a Psychology teacher at Old Swinford Hospital School, in Stourbridge, who has donated a percentage of her prize money to our Covid-19 Animal Care Fund.
The book, a collection of stories about five spider friends, came about after Dr McGee attended one of our arachnophobia workshops with a group of her psychology students and aims to inspire young readers, aged between 4 – 7, to see spiders as fascinating mini beasts instead of being feared.
The book is available to purchase through AmazonSmile – don’t forgot DZC get 0.5 per cent of the purchase price of eligible products, at no extra cost to yourself, if you choose us as your chosen charity. We’re listed as DUDLEY AND WEST MIDLANDS ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY LIMITED.
And 30 per cent of net sales will go towards supporting Buglife, the only organisation in Europe devoted to the conservation of all invertebrates.
