Cake’s a grrreat success!

A massive thanks to staff at Oak Furniture Land, in Merry Hill, for their generosity in donating an incredible tiger cake made by talented designer Annabel de Vetten, for Cakebomb.

The giant confectionery creation offered up to more than 100 slices for lucky visitors who joined our special Easter Teatime with the Tigers yesterday afternoon!   zoo_cake_oak_webThe morning started with CEO Peter Suddock receiving the cake from staff at the newly-opened Oak Furniture Land, then joining Annabel in transporting the fabulous feline to the zoo.   Modelled on a photograph of our gorgeous Sumatran tigress, Daseep, the cake took two people to carry it to the Tecton enclosure for the tea party – above with Annabel and Assistant Curator, Richard Brown.   DZG Head of Media and Communications, Jill Hitchman, said: “We’d looked at Cakebomb’s work on their website and had heard about some of their projects, but nothing prepared us for the actual cake, it was simply stunning.

“The photographs really don’t do it justice; Annabel’s work is just amazing.
