Browse boost

Pruned native tree branches became tasty treats and playful games for several species on site.

Ungulate keepers cut back sycamore and ash trees in the red panda enclosure as part of a general maintenance programme, with the likes of our barbary sheep, tapirs, reindeer, kangaroos and capybara all enjoying the extra browse.

Senior Keeper, Sam Grove, said: “Many of the animals on our section enjoy eating browse.

“As well as an additional boost of nutrients from fresh leaves, it also provided them with enrichment, as they stripped off the leaves and bark off the branches, plus for Harold the kangaroo, he also enjoyed a game of hide and seek amongst them too!”
