Emily Bristow, booked up the experience for her husband Ian’s birthday after spotting the promotional video on our website and drove from their Newport home for the day.

Emily said: “I think it’s safe to say it was the best day I’ve had, second only to my wedding! I’ve been telling anyone who will listen what an awesome day it was and I struggle to remember all of the animals we encountered because it was non-stop. I really want more people to do it because I really, really enjoyed myself, as did my husband.”

The couple joined keepers from all sections of the zoo in helping feed and care for some of the world’s rarest animals, including primates, ungulates, big cats and birds.

Emily added: “Getting licked by a tapir, having a penguin nip my jeans, experiencing a lemur jumping on my face… all were spectacular.”

“The whole day ran like clockwork and the keepers we met were clearly passionate about what they did and it was amazing to see them with the animals – they knew all of their quirks.”

“I really cannot overstate what an amazing day we had. The hospitality shown, the passion of the keepers and the animals themselves all made for a most incredible experience.”
