Members of Historia Normannis, a 12th century re-enactment group, will be taking over Dudley Castle, at the heart of DZG, next weekend.
Throughout Saturday (27) and Sunday (28) re-enactors will be showcasing their skills to visitors with knights’ archery displays, woodwork, music and an authentic fashion show. DZG Head of Media and Communications, Jill Hitchman, said: “We are really looking forward to seeing the society bring Dudley Castle courtyard to life with their displays of 12th century life. “We have an exciting itinerary for visitors to enjoy and there’s a varied programme throughout both days, including a Norman fashion show where items of clothing of the period are explained, plus militia training and a mid-afternoon combat display.
“We’re hoping people will take the opportunity to join us for a history lesson with a difference.”
A spokesman for the group said the society aimed to portray 12th century life in an accurate, engaging and exciting way. He added: “Historia Normannis prides itself on bringing history to life.” The events run from 11am through to 4pm.
