Students from Bournville College discovered how DZG deals with marketing and customer service on a day-to-day basis.
Working alongside presenters, the 18 teenagers took part in an activity workshop in the Discovery Centre’s Rainforest Room.
DZG Presenter, Caroline Howard, pictured right, said: “Customer service and marketing in a zoo environment is quite unique. Here at DZG we have the zoo, castle and Tectons, so every day we have to deal with queries dealing with anything from the animals to visitor facilities such as the chairlift.
“We gave the students examples of real visitor queries and asked them how they should react to them and to come up with ways we can positively promote ourselves.”
The group also heard about the various ways we collect feedback from visitors, including through social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, before finishing the hour-long session with a hands-on cockroach meet and greet.
