Birds in the picture

Three-year-old Faith Healey joined in the fun during National Nest Box Week by adding her colourful picture to a display in our Discovery Centre.

The young bird lover, from Shrewsbury – pictured with member of the presentation team Sarah Redding – coloured in a drawing of a great tit.

Faith attached her artwork to a wooden tree next to a National Nest Box Week display for all our visitors to see.

Dad Richard Healey said: “This is the first time we’ve been to the zoo and half term is a great time to come as I’m a teacher.

“Faith loves feeding the wild birds at home and is always reminding me when we need to do it.”

Faith was also joined by mum Sarah Healey, her eight-month-old sister Willow and her granny and grandpa David and Alison Healey.

Throughout the week, presenters in the Discovery Centre have been talking about blue tits, great tits, wrens and starlings and telling visitors how we can all look after them.

More than 100 fat balls have already been put up around the DZG farm to look after wild birds visiting the site.
