Bioblitz benefits!
Two DZG Keepers have taken part in a bioblitz workshop with a view to raising awareness of our native species at DZG.
Lower Primates Section Leader Nicola Wright and Senior Keeper Sophie Dugmore, pictured above, attended a Bioblitz Training Course held at Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park.
Staff from zoos and wildlife parks from up and down the country joined the course to share information about planning biological site surveys and the benefits they can bring.
Nicola said: “It was a very interesting course and hopefully in the future we can look at doing a bioblitz at DZG.
“It would be a way of increasing visitor awareness of our native species and hopefully it would encourage youngsters to explore worms, slugs and other creatures in their own garden.”
