There was a big DZG welcome for staff and friends of Wuppertal and Frankfurt Zoos, in Germany, when they called to see their favourite big cats.
During their weekend stay the group spent time with tigers, Tschuna and Daseep both girls have strong ties with the German zoos since birth and took in a behind-the-scenes tour with DZG staff.
They also brought along various enrichment toys for the tigers to play with, including Daseep’s first cuddly toy that was given to her when she was just a few days old!
Barbara Scheer, of Wuppertal above left, engrossed in DZG’s Annual Review said: “It was so good to be back at DZG, it feels like home and we always enjoy our visits and are made to feel so welcome by everyone.”
Head of Media and Communications, Jill Hitchman, said: “The German visitors were anxious to see the girls together for one last time before Tschuna transfers to Yorkshire.
“There were some emotional moments and it was wonderful to see their interaction with the tigers who still clearly remember them from their early days.”
She added: “It’s always good to see them and we are very appreciative of their constant support via Facebook and email.”
