Best birthday treat!

A budding Zoo Keeper had a tenth birthday to remember when she came to work for us for the day!

Alyssa Westwood from Stourport-on-Severn was treated to a Little Zoo Keeper experience for her big day by her parents and loved every second!

Alyssa said: “My favourite part was meeting and feeding the penguins! My hands were freezing but it was worth it to get so close to them. They were climbing all over my wellingtons to get to the fish! It was so much fun; it was really great.”

During her day, Alyssa shadowed a DZG keeper and helped feed, clean and care for the animals on the farm.

And as well as getting up close to our colony of Humboldt penguins she also had a meet and greet with our Brazilian tapirs.  

Mum, Rebecca, said: “I was thrilled with how it all went and will definitely be purchasing one for my son’s eighth birthday next year.  All of the staff throughout our visit were friendly and the keeper who Alyssa shadowed was lovely and very approachable – she is shy so that makes a big difference.

“She has also been the envy of her brother and cousins with her Dudley Zoo goody bag which, along with the free return visit, was a lovely unexpected surprise!

“We chose Dudley Zoo because of location verses cost.  Lots of places offer similar packages but when the cost of the experience combined with travel time and cost, Dudley Zoo was the leader by far.”
