The 20-year-old female, pictured above, puckered up for Keeper Jade Reddall yesterday, July 6th the day people around the world celebrate the kiss.
Jade said: “We were doing some work with our seven chimps, training them to check their body parts when Banika showed me her best pout.
“It was adorable and so funny as I knew it was International Kissing Day.”
Jade said 41-year-old Fanny, pictured right, was also on good form during the training session and responded well to the open mouth’ command so keepers could check her teeth.
She said: “We carry out this training with the chimps regularly so we can go through a series of visual checks with the animals and monitor any injuries they may have.
“It also helps build a relationship between us and the chimpanzees.”
Commands the seven females have mastered include shutting and opening their mouths and showing Keepers their chests, backs, feet, ears, shoulders, hands and bottoms!
The world record for the longest kiss is held by Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat from Thailand who locked lips for a whopping 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds on February 12-14, 2013. Nine couples entered the kissing competition in Pattaya, Thailand, including a married couple in their 70s.
